Hi Barbara - Just found your site today and enjoyed reading a few your posts. Congrats on all of your success! On the subject of networking, I wrote a post recently called "The #1 Networking Tool During Hard Times" (http://tinyurl.com/6qsbqq). In short, I believe the most productive networking you can do (while working or looking) is the act of helping others find work. It feels good and provides a huge leg up for others. There's also a FREE downloadable tool (in the post) to help you do it.
