Well I just quoted you in a blog post on www.careerprotalk.typepad.com and I think these ideas are still very relevant to the topic. I may add some more from this excellent blog.

Why is it that the Elephant in the room, age discrimination, is something so seldom mentioned? It's real. I know, I faced it and was lucky enough to take a new career path that led me to greater success that I had in my 'former' F500 executive life.

It really makes me angry when I read and hear about the many talented, dynamic, experienced people who have been led to pasture because they made the mistake of becoming one day older today than yesterday. My blood really starts boiling when somebody glibly says take anything that's offered or other nonsense. Why should a capable executive be downsized to a clerk just because they have a few wrinkles or grey hairs? They still have the talent, drive, knowledge and more importantly the wisdom of experience.

I've assigned myself the mission of documenting how other Boomers have faced a career or other disaster in their life and managed to bounce back. I'll be doing this through a new web site and a book (I have two books published) and will be looking for success stories to speak with. If you, or somebody you know, has as much grey in their hair as they do common sense, have made the bounce back transition, I'd like to speak with them. I can be contacted via email at bill@billvick.com, Skype at BigBiller, or phone at 214-444-8425. Lets put our collective heads together and come up with some solutions and answers to this whole sticky mess.

Barbara,
Very nicely worded entry on mid-career folks. Supporting all of what you pointed out, if you are in a professional field your argument (technical abilities) weakens if you use "older terms". Use current terms...
Sincerely,
Dan
