Thanks Debra. You're right. The resume isn't going away, but it certainly is evolving.

Well phrased and excellent advice Barbara. I especially agree that while a resume is still necessary, it is no longer sufficient to market a candidate in today's job market. It's imperative that job seekers are visible, that they have a presence on line and participate in relevant social media platforms that are used/visited/approved by colleagues in their industry or target field. I think that it is going to become obvious that successful candidates are the ones who attract employers and among the best ways to grab attention is to show don't tell your talent, skills, abilities, etc rather than relying on a single document to convince a potential employer of a prospect's potential value.
Maybe a way to view this growing phenomenon is to take away the vertical perspective and replace a linear, reverse chrono resume with a multi pronged strategy that embraces several social media sites, a personal website, a blog, industry conference participation, online and print publications, etc.
The game has changed. Job seekers have to pick up the new pieces to participate in the current marketplace.
