I am pleased to announce that Career Solvers was recently nominated for a TORI (Toast of the Resume Industry) Award by Career Directors International. Career Solvers has been nominated for this award over 30 times since 2006 and won 12 awards for Best Executive Resume, Best Technology Resume, Best Sales & Marketing Resume, Best International Resume, Best Creative Resume, and Best Cover Letter. The competition draws hundreds of entries from resume writers from all over the world, and it is an honor to be a nominee this year.

This year I was nominated for Best Portfolio Careers Resume. A person with a portfolio career has opted for simultaneous employment opportunities that are linked by a common theme or expertise. For example, a former CEO might craft a new diverse professional identity with multiple gigs, including board seats, advisory roles, adjunct professor opportunities, and consulting assignments that are all tied to their industry or functional area of expertise. Many consider this type of career as an interim path in-between traditional corporate roles or an active retirement option when full-time work is no longer desirable.

Writing a resume for a portfolio career client requires a sound strategy that effectively ties together what could appear to be disparate roles and links them with a common value proposition. Sometimes a person is too close to these experiences to view their linkages or value objectively. This is where a professional resume writer can help.
