Each year, Career Directors International (CDI) hosts the TORI Awards (Toast of the Resume Industry), a global competition where resume writers showcase their best work and compete for top honors. It’s an opportunity to demonstrate strategic thinking, strong writing, and standout design, and to benchmark our work against the highest industry standards.
The TORI competition is a great way for me to stretch creatively and continue sharpening my skills. Winning is always exciting, but what I appreciate most is how the process pushes me to think differently, stay innovative, and develop fresh ways to highlight my clients’ achievements and career stories.
Going through the TORIs each year genuinely makes me a better resume writer. For my clients, the designation is a signal that they’re working with someone who knows how to use a range of strategies to position them effectively and help them stand out in a competitive executive job market.
This year, I was thrilled to receive an award for a resume I created for a client making a significant career pivot. In a market defined by disruption and rapid change, the ability to articulate agility and transferable skills has never been more critical. Many executives may find themselves needing to shift functions or industries to stay relevant, and I’m committed to helping those navigating career transitions, as well as those pursuing more traditional, linear paths, tell their stories with clarity and confidence.
